Service     Cap Corps Volunteers work primarily in the fields of health care, education, and social services in Cleveland, OH and Washington, DC. Here is a list of placements where Cap Corps Volunteers may be placed; more opportunities are available based on needs of agencies and skills of applicants. 


Health Care

  • St. Vincent Charity Hospital, Emergency Room Nurse Assistant (Cleveland, OH) St. Vincent Charity Hospital is located in the Central neighborhood of downtown Cleveland and provides care to anyone in need. The Cap Corps Volunteer assists nurses in all capacities of patient care in the Emergency Room.
  • Migration and Refugee Services, Health Care Navigator (Cleveland, OH)
    MRS provides extensive resettlement services to help refugees become self- sufficient and connected to their new community. The Cap Corps Volunteer helps clients navigate their medical needs and care; many of whom have not received proper medical attention for years and often longer.

Education

  • Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School, Program Assistant (Washington, DC)
    Students at Don Bosco High School participate in a Corporal Work Study Program where they earn tuition money by working one day a week at partner organizations throughout the DC area. The Program Assistant is a point person in helping students navigate the Work Study Program by providing support in logistics, communication, and professionalism.

  • St. Francis International School, Student Activities Coordinator (Washington, DC)
    St. Francis International School is a low income Catholic School (K-8th Grades) with a diverse student population. The Cap Corps Volunteer works to organize special events and support students at all grade levels.
  • Sacred Heart School, Teacher’s Aide (Washington, DC)
    Sacred Heart School is a bilingual Catholic School (Pre-K-8th Grades) affiliated with the Capuchin Franciscan Friars. Cap Corps Volunteers have worked in early childhood, elementary, and middle school positions; the position changes based on need of the school and qualifications of the applicant; Spanish skills are utilized.

Social Services 

  • SOME - So Others Might EatProgram Assistant (Washington, DC) 
    SOME is an agency that provides vast services to meet the emergency and long-term needs of the poor and homeless. Cap Corps Volunteers have worked in various programs within SOME including housing, donations, the dental clinic, and  mental health services. The position varies based on the needs of SOME and the qualifications of the applicant.
  • Catholic Charities of WashingtonCommunity Outreach Organizer (Washington, DC)
    Catholic Charities of Washington DC provides outreach support to the parishes in the Archdiocese of Washington. The Community Outreach Organizer facilitates food and clothing drives, medical and dental initiatives, shelter support, advocacy days, and other outreach efforts throughout the year.
  • Migration and Refugee Services, Program Assistant (Cleveland, OH)
    MRS provides extensive resettlement services to help refugees acclimate to their new environment. The Cap Corps Volunteer assists in refugee resettlement in the areas of housing, health care, ESL support, employment training, and school enrollment/support.

  • St. Colman Outreach Ministry, Program Assistant (Cleveland, OH)
    St. Colman’s provides outreach to its surrounding community and beyond. The Cap Corps Volunteer assists in case management to meet the emergency and long term needs of neighborhood residents. The volunteer oversees the many programs at St. Colman’s including the ID Crisis Collaborative, Neighborhood Meal Program, ESL classes, GED Preparation, and computer classes.
  • Spanish Catholic Center, Programs Assistant (Washington, DC)
    The Spanish Catholic Center provides a network of services to the immigrant community. The Programs Assistant includes responsibilities in two main areas: employment services and the food program. Spanish language skills are preferred.
  • Sacred Heart Dinner Program, Assistant Program Coordinator (Washington, DC)
    The Sacred Heart Dinner Program serves dinner to guests in need five nights a week. The Assistant Program Coordinator assists the meal, supervises volunteers, and works with referral agencies to end homelessness for guests. Spanish language skills are preferred.
