From July 15-22, our roving preacher Manuel Avilés got the opportunity for a mission to Chimbote, Peru. At its beginning, he wroted on Facebook:
I have seen a true rediscovery of Christ in the face of the poor, marginalized and sick. Despite the limitations, God continues to touch the hearts of benefactors and collaborators who, with generosity and love, make it possible for this mission to continue bringing hope and dignity to those who need it most.

And, in his sharing at the mission's end, he wrote:
My last days in Chimbote, Peru, were full of emotions visiting homes and accompanying families in extreme need. At the same time, I had the privilege of personally meeting the wonderful staff of Maternidad de Maria: their director, Rosa; Dr. Milagros; Susana, Lizbeth, William, Karina, Geraldine, Tania, and many others, whom I can now call friends. In a very special way, I also had the grace to celebrate Mass with Bishop Ángel of Chimbote. The farewell was difficult, but I carry them in my heart. We will continue to meet in the Eucharist.
