Vocation Awareness at Borromeo
Our Capuchin Formation Program hosted a Capuchin Vocation Awareness Program the weekend of March 23rd. Our brother Moisés Villalata, OFM Cap., pastor of our Sacred Heart Parish in Washington, DC, brought seven young men for the weekend, and Alex Hostoffer, OFM Cap., in formation studies in DC, accompanied two other men from the area. A ninth fellow, who is serious about joining the program next year, flew in from Minneapolis, MN. Our Provincial Minister (and former Vocation Director) Tom Betz, OFM Cap., just happened to be at Borromeo that weekend for a meeting of the Board of Trustees and spent the night (which gave Br. Tom a chance to be in the group photos below). I divided the photo in two for a better view of the faces . . .
March Vocation Weekend
A number of men were part of the Vocation Weekend from March 2-4 at Alverno.From the photo, it looks like our a few postulants along with our brothers Francisco Lopez, Rigo Azanwi, Tom Betz, Rafa Anguiano and Andrew Corriente were present to host the inquirers. We also caught friar Lester Knoll and Kristhin Guillen (from the College Formation Program) in the original picture, but the photo below was cropped to allow for larger facial focus. Brs. Roshan & Reynaldo are now Priest-Friars
Our brothers Roshan Anthonypillai, OFM Cap., and Reynaldo FrÃas-Santana, OFM Cap. (above) were ordained as priest-friars in Pittsburgh, PA, by Bishop David Zubik who shepherds the diocese there. of Pittsburgh, PA. The celebration took place on Saturday, December 9. Both men will be headed to our Custodies in their first assignments as priests: Fr. Reynaldo will minister in Utuado, PR, to assist our brothers in one of the areas most damaged by the recent hurricane, and Fr. Roshan will be serving with the friars in Papua New Guinea.
It's a deal with Catholic Workcamps . . .
Our province minister, Fr. Tom Betz, OFM Cap., and our director of college formation, Fr. Brian Stacy, OFM Cap., has entered into a partnership Group Workcamps, an ecumenical youth program providing mission trips and service "Workcamps" for more than 17,000 young people each year. The new partnership entitled "Group Catholic Workcamps" will offer religious service weeks for Catholic youth groups and schools. Br. Brian will be the coordinator of the project which, in 2018, hopes to offer three weeks of Catholic service, projected to serve from 1000 to 1200 teens.
